Wyndy sends you a notification when a family nearby posts a job that fits your schedule, when a family invites you to a job, and when a job you applied to opens up again. Tap any of them to open the job and apply in a few taps; the alert never books you on its own.
The alerts you get
| Notification | Example | Why you got it |
|---|---|---|
| New job from the family's name | New job from Sarah K. "$22/hr on Oct. 24. Tap to apply!" | A family near you posted a job open to all sitters, and it fits the days, times and distance you set. |
| The family's name, then invited you | Sarah K. invited you "$22/hr on Oct. 24. Tap to apply!" | The family sent this job to you by name: you've sat for them before, you're one of their favorites, or they started the job from your profile. |
| The family's name, then needs a sitter again | Sarah K. needs a sitter again "The Oct. 24 job you applied to is open again. Still available? Tap to re-apply." | You applied to this job, the family booked someone else, and that sitter cancelled. The job is back up. |
| The family's name, then is looking for sitters like you | Sarah K. "is looking for sitters like you for 10/24/2026. Tap for details." | A job near you is still looking for sitters a while after it was posted. |
| A job you applied to changed time | "Now {schedule}. Still available? Tap for details." | A job you applied to was moved to a new time. Check you can still make it. |
Once you're booked, a change to the job's time or rate comes as Your booking was updated: "Now {schedule} at ${rate}/hr. Tap for details." The hourly rate in an alert is what you'd earn for that job. If the app is open when an alert arrives, it slides down from the top of the screen instead, and tapping it does the same thing.
Invites
An invite means the family picked you. If they sent the job only to invited sitters, no one else sees it in their feed. You still apply the normal way, and the family still chooses who to book from their applicants. Invites reach you even if the job is outside the days, times or distance you've set for alerts.
Re-apply alerts
When a booked sitter cancels, the job goes back up and earlier applications to it are cleared. That's why the alert says "re-apply": if you're still free, apply again from the job page.
What happens when you tap an alert
-
Tap the notification.
The job opens: the family, date and time, the job description, tasks, children, location and Estimated Pay. -
Tap Apply, or Decline to hide the job.
On a recurring job, you're first asked "Are you available for the trial date and the recurring schedule below?". Decline asks "Are you sure you want to decline this job?" before it hides the job. -
Confirm your commitments and tap Confirm and apply.
You tick each commitment and sign. See Applying to jobs.
If you've already applied, the job page shows Remove application instead. If the family books you, you get You're booked!: "Sarah K. on Fri, Oct 24 at 6:00 PM. Tap for details." It opens the booking in your Bookings tab.
Choose which jobs alert you
Alerts follow two settings under Me, then Locations & availability.
| Setting | What it changes |
|---|---|
| Distance | How far from your location a job can be: Jobs within 1 mile, 5, 10, 25 or 50 miles. |
| Availability | The days and times you want alerts for. The app explains it as "Pick times for job alerts. You'll still see all jobs." Use Select all to turn on every slot. |
Availability only decides which jobs you're alerted about. Jobs outside it still show in your Jobs feed. More in Locations and availability.
Turn alerts on or off
Wyndy's alerts use your phone's notification settings. There aren't separate switches for each kind of alert in the app.
- Go to Me, then Account, then Notifications to see whether they're On or Off and jump to your phone's settings.
- If notifications are off, the top of your Jobs tab shows "Turn on alerts to never miss a job" with an Enable button. You can dismiss it.
See Notifications for the steps on iPhone and Android.
Good to know
- You won't get an alert for a job you've already applied to or declined.
- You won't get alerts for jobs that overlap a booking you already have. You couldn't take both.
- If you cancelled a booking on a job, you won't be alerted when that job goes back up.
- Alerts start once you're approved. Your first notification after approval is "You're approved!".
- Applying doesn't lock in the job. Families book whoever they choose from their applicants, and booking is instant: there's no second confirmation from you.
Questions
Why didn't I get an alert for a job I can see in my feed?
Your feed shows every job within your distance, but alerts only go out for the days and times in your Availability. Add more slots to hear about more jobs.
What's the difference between "New job from" and "invited you"?
"New job from" goes to all matching sitters nearby. "Invited you" means the family chose you by name.
I tapped an alert but I'm busy that day. What should I do?
Tap Decline. The job leaves your feed and you won't get alerts about it again.
