During a job

The live job panel, messaging your sitter and getting help while a job is happening.

Updated Nov 3, 2026Reading time 6 min

On this page

From 2 hours before a booked job starts until your sitter submits their hours, the job's page turns into a live view: a countdown, a map of the job's address, your sitter's contact options and a way to reach the Wyndy care team. Wyndy doesn't track your sitter or record a clock-in, so everything on this screen follows the schedule you booked.

Open the live view

  1. Open the Jobs tab.

A job that has started sits at the top, under Happening now. A job whose end time has passed but isn't paid yet sits under Wrapping up.
  2. Tap the job.

The card's button, Message, opens your chat with the sitter instead.

The page changes three times as the job goes on. Pull down on it at any point to refresh.

The three stages

StageWhenThe big panel shows
Starting soonFrom 2 hours before the start until the start time"Maya arrives soon", a countdown such as "1h 20m", and "Due at 6:00 PM". In the last minute the countdown reads "Any minute".
Happening nowFrom the start time until the scheduled end"Happening now", the time left such as "2h 15m left", "Scheduled until 9:00 PM", and a map of the address. In the last minute it reads "Wrapping up".
Wrapping upFrom the scheduled end until your sitter submits their hours"Waiting for Maya to confirm their hours", with how long ago the job was scheduled to end.

Each panel also lists what happens next. While a job is running, it says your sitter will confirm the hours they worked after the job ends, and that you'll confirm their hours and pay when the job is complete. On a recurring job, the list adds that this is a trial job and that you can set up regular care together if it goes well.

The countdown and the map

The countdown is the time left on the schedule, not time since your sitter arrived. It updates while the screen is open. The map shows the job's address with a pin. It's a preview of the location, not your sitter's position.

Below the panel

  • Your sitter. Their photo, name and rating. Tap to open their profile.
  • Message and Call or text. See the next section.
  • Job details. Tap to expand what you shared, under "This information was provided to Maya": Kids and Your notes. This stays on the page until the scheduled end.
  • Estimated total. What Maya earns, the fees and the total at the hours you booked, with the note "This is an estimate. The final total follows the exact hours Maya submits when the job is complete."
  • Need a hand? The help panel. See below.

Reach your sitter

OptionWhat it does
MessageOpens your Wyndy chat with your sitter. You can message them before and during the job.
Call or textOpens a choice of Text or Call, which uses your phone's own Messages or Phone app. Cancel closes it.

If your phone can't call or text, you'll see "Couldn't start a call" or "Couldn't open Messages", with Message in Wyndy to use the chat instead. Both options disappear once your chat with the sitter has closed. Without a membership, the chat stays open until 24 hours after the job's scheduled end; members can keep chatting. See Messaging.

Get help during a job

The Need a hand? panel is on the page for the whole live view, from 2 hours before the start until your sitter submits their hours. Before and during the job it says "If Maya has not arrived yet, or something else is not right, we can step in." After the scheduled end it says "If Maya did not arrive, or something else was not right, we can step in."

  1. Tap Get help.

Wyndy's help screen opens with the Booking topic picked and a chip naming the job, such as "About: Fri, Oct 24 at 6:00 PM with Maya".
  2. Tell us what's going on.

Type at least a few characters in Your message. You can switch the topic if a different one fits better.
  3. Tap Submit.

You'll see "Message sent. We'll be in touch shortly." Tap Done to go back to the job.

If your sitter doesn't arrive

Once the start time passes, the list at the bottom of the page adds a row named after your sitter, such as Maya never arrived. It opens the same help screen, with the chip at the top already saying what happened: "About: Sitter never arrived. Fri, Oct 24 at 6:00 PM with Maya". Write a short message and tap Submit. The care team sees the chip with your message. Try messaging or calling your sitter first, since they may be running a few minutes late.

What your sitter does

Your sitter doesn't start a timer when they arrive. There's nothing for them to tap at the start of the job.

WhenWhat your sitter seesWhat you see
2 hours beforeA Job Reminder notification: "Your job with Sarah K. starts at 6:00 PM!"The same reminder, naming your sitter.
During the job"Happening now" at the top of their Jobs tab, with the time elapsed, and an End job button on the booking. The Happening now panel.
When they finishThey tap End job, check their start and end time on the Confirm hours screen and tap Confirm hours.A Time to pay notification: "Tap to pay Maya." The job moves to Needs your attention.

After that, you check the hours, add a tip and pay. You can pay right away, or your card is charged automatically 24 hours after your sitter submits their hours. See Paying and tipping.

Good to know

  • "Happening now" doesn't mean your sitter has arrived. The app has no arrival signal. The stage starts at the scheduled time either way. If you're unsure, message your sitter or use Get help.
  • The hours you pay for come from your sitter. They enter the start and end time they actually worked. If those are wrong, you can edit them before you pay.
  • A job can stay in Wrapping up for a while. It moves on only when your sitter submits their hours. You can still message them in the meantime.
  • The cost panel is an estimate. It uses the hours you booked. If the job runs long or ends early, the total follows the submitted hours.
  • Jobs with more than one sitter show a panel for the whole group, such as "2 sitters arrive soon", and each sitter's own page works the same way.
  • The menu in the top corner goes away once the job starts. The rows at the bottom of the page, like View job posting and Cancellation policy, are still there.
  • You can still cancel during the job. Cancel job stays at the bottom of the page until the scheduled end, unless your sitter has already submitted their hours. Cancelling after the start is a late cancellation, so the $20 fee applies. If your sitter never came, use Maya never arrived instead. See Cancelling a job.

Questions

Can I see where my sitter is?

No. The map shows the job's address only. Wyndy doesn't track a sitter's location.

How do I know my sitter showed up?

Ask them in the chat, or call or text from the job page. The app can't confirm arrival on its own.

My sitter is late. What should I do?

Message or call them first. If you can't reach them, tap Get help, or Maya never arrived once the start time has passed, and the care team will follow up.

The job ended but I can't pay yet. Why?

Your sitter hasn't submitted their hours. You'll get a Time to pay notification as soon as they do.

Still stuck? Open the Wyndy app and go to Me, then Help, or contact the Wyndy team.
