Finding jobs

Your Jobs feed, the calendar view, sorting and job alerts.

Updated Nov 3, 2026Reading time 5 min

On this page

The Jobs tab lists open jobs within your travel distance, newest jobs appearing as families post them. Every job shows what you'll earn, when it is and who it's for, so you can decide before you open it.

The Jobs tab

The Jobs tab has two tabs of its own along the top: Jobs for open jobs, and Applied for jobs you've applied to. Under them you'll find:

  • A list and calendar switch, to see jobs as a list or by date.
  • Your location, shown as your city and state with your travel distance, for example "10 mi". It says Select Location if you haven't set one. Tap it to change either one (see Locations and availability).
  • Sort, which shows the current order. Tap it to change it.

Pull down on the list to refresh it. New jobs that families post while you're looking are added to the top.

Reminders above the list

When one of your booked jobs needs something from you, a reminder card sits at the top of the Jobs list. Swipe sideways if there's more than one, and tap the × to dismiss one.

If notifications are off for Wyndy, a banner reads "Turn on alerts to never miss a job". Tap Enable to open your phone's settings.

What's on a job card

  • The family, with their photo and name.
  • Estimated payout, the large dollar amount: your hourly rate times the job's scheduled hours.
  • Date and time of the job.
  • The description, cut off after a few lines with See more. Jobs without one say "No description provided".
  • Children, as a count with ages, for example "2 children (3 and 6 years old)".
  • Pets present, if the family has pets.
  • Recurring care opportunity, with the days of the week, if the family is looking for ongoing care.
  • Decline and Apply buttons. After you apply, Apply changes to Applied.

Job details

Tap a card to open the job. Tap the family's name at the top to see their profile and reviews from other sitters. The profile adds a Kids section, with each child's first name, only once the family has booked you. Before that, the job itself lists the children by age.

SectionWhat it tells you
JOB DESCRIPTIONThe family's notes about the job.
TASKSWhat the family needs, such as feeding, bathing, bedtime or driving.
CHILDRENEach child's age and gender, any specific needs, and notes from the family.
SICKNESSShown if anyone at home has been sick recently.
GROUPShown if the job is for a group, such as a church, with the group's name.
PETS and ADULTSShown if there are pets, or other adults at home during the job.
LOCATIONHow far the job is from your current location, and a map of the area.
PAYMENT SUMMARYYour hourly rate times the job's length, and the total.

The bar at the bottom shows your Estimated Pay with Decline and Apply. Under the details, How this job works lists the steps: apply, get booked if the family picks you, then use the app to chat, manage the job and get paid.

Sort the list

SortOrder
NewestMost recently posted first.

Highest PayThe highest-paying jobs first.

Calendar view

Switch to the calendar to see which days have open jobs, up to a year ahead. Tap a highlighted date to see that day's jobs, listed by start time, with your own bookings for that day alongside.

Decline a job

Not interested? Declining hides the job so your list stays short.

  1. Tap Decline on the card or in the job.

The app asks "Are you sure you want to decline this job?"
  2. Tap Yes, decline.

Or No, cancel to keep it. From the list, a bar says "You declined this job" with Undo for about 5 seconds.

The Applied tab

Applied lists the jobs you've applied to, in order of start time. Tap one to see its details.

To withdraw, tap Remove application, then Yes, remove. The app confirms "Application removed" and you leave the family's applicant list.

Job alerts

Wyndy sends you a notification when a family nearby posts a job. The rate in the alert is your hourly pay.

AlertMessage
New job from, with the family's nameThe hourly rate and the date, for example "$22/hr on Oct. 18. Tap to apply"
The family's name, then "invited you"The same message. You get this one when a family sends the job to you directly, for example because you've sat for them before or you're one of their favorites.
The family's name, then "needs a sitter again""The {date} job you applied to is open again. Still available? Tap to re-apply." You get this when a job you applied to opens up again, for example after the booked sitter cancels.

Alerts follow your location, distance and the times you picked under Availability. Tap an alert to open the job.

Good to know

  • When there are no open jobs, the list says "Available jobs will appear here :)", or "All caught up!" with "Keep checking in, families are always posting new jobs." Check back, because families post throughout the day.
  • With no applications yet, the Applied tab says "Jobs you've applied to will appear here :)".
  • Jobs disappear from the list once you apply. Find them under Applied.
  • If your account is paused after late cancellations, tapping a job shows a message instead. See Cancelling and reliability.
  • A job less than a mile away shows as 1 mile.

Questions

Why don't I see many jobs?

Your Jobs feed only shows jobs within your travel distance. Try a wider distance under Me, then Locations & availability.

Is the estimated payout what I'll actually earn?

It's your rate times the scheduled hours. You're paid for the hours the family confirms after the job, plus any tip.

Can I undo a decline after the bar disappears?

No. Once the Undo bar is gone, the job stays hidden.

Can I message a family before applying?

No. You can message a family once they've booked you.

Still stuck? Open the Wyndy app and go to Me, then Help, or contact the Wyndy team.
