Switching between parent and sitter

Use one phone number for both a parent and a sitter profile.

Updated Nov 3, 2026Reading time 3 min

On this page

One phone number can hold a parent profile and a sitter profile, and you switch between them from the Account screen. If the other profile already exists, you go straight into it without a new code; if it doesn't, the app starts its sign-up with your number filled in.

Switch from parent to sitter

  1. Tap Me, then Account.

    Scroll to Manage account.
  2. Tap Switch to Sitter Profile.

The row says "Find jobs as a Wyndy sitter".
  3. Tap Yes, switch to sitter.

The app asks "Are you sure you want to switch to a sitter profile to look for jobs?" Close keeps you where you are.

Switch from sitter to parent

  1. Tap Me, then Account.

    Scroll to Manage account.
  2. Tap Switch to Parent Profile.

The row says "Book sitters as a Wyndy parent".
  3. Tap Yes, switch to parent.

The app asks "Are you sure you want to switch to a parent account to search for sitters?" Close keeps you where you are.

Where you land

Switching takes you to the place that profile would open to if you signed in to it.

If you don't have the other profile yet

The app signs you out of the profile you're in and opens the other side's phone number screen, with your number already filled in.

  1. Tap Continue.

Wyndy texts a code to your number.
  2. Enter the code.

You're now signed in on the new side.
  3. Sign up or apply.

A new parent goes through parent sign-up. A new sitter goes through the sitter application, including the background check and review.

Your first profile isn't affected. Switch back any time from Me, then Account.

What's shared and what's separate

Shared by both profilesSeparate for each profile
  • Your phone number and how you sign in
  • Your profile, photo and bio
  • Jobs and bookings
  • Your inbox and chats
  • Membership: the parent membership and the sitter subscription are different plans
  • Payments: a parent's card, a sitter's Wyndy balance and payouts
  • Blocked people

A family never sees your parent profile when they look at you as a sitter, and a sitter never sees your sitter profile when they look at you as a parent.

Good to know

  • You're in one profile at a time. The tabs change with the profile: parents see Jobs, Sitters, Inbox and Me; sitters see Jobs, Bookings, Inbox and Me.
  • Logging out and back in works the same way. On the first screen, tap Find childcare for your parent profile or I'm a sitter for your sitter profile. See Accounts and signing in.
  • If the switch fails, you'll see "Error Switching Profile" and "An unexpected error occurred while switching profiles. Please try again." You stay in the profile you were using.
  • Deleting an account is done from the profile you're in, under Me, then Account, then Delete Account. See Deleting your account.

Questions

Can I be a parent and a sitter on Wyndy?

Yes. Use the same phone number for both and switch from Account.

Do I need a second phone number?

No. One number holds both profiles.

Will switching cancel anything?

No. Your jobs, bookings and chats stay as they are in each profile. Switching only changes which profile you're looking at.

Still stuck? Open the Wyndy app and go to Me, then Help, or contact the Wyndy team.
