1. Download and sign in
Open the app and tap I'm a sitter. On "Get started with Wyndy", enter your US phone number and tap Continue. Type the code from "Enter the code we just texted you". It submits on its own once all 6 digits are in. Tap Resend Code if it doesn't arrive.
2. Apply
On "Start Earning with Wyndy!", tap Apply now. The application saves as you go. If you leave, you pick up where you left off next time you sign in.

The background check
The Background Check screen says it takes "less than 5 minutes". You enter your Legal Details, turn on I agree for the FCRA Disclosure and the Background Check Disclosure, and sign the Background Check Authorization. You can also ask for a copy of your report there. See Sitter background checks.
The sitter subscription
The subscription is part of the application. It starts with a free trial, then costs $19.99 a month through the App Store or Google Play. The screen shows the exact date it renews. Its perks include unlimited job scheduling and booking and easy in-app payments. See Sitter subscription.
The college check
Search for your college, then pick how to confirm it:
- Confirm .edu email (instant): enter your school email, then the 6-digit code we email you.
- Upload college document: an acceptance letter, class schedule or transcript.
- Skip: Wyndy tries to verify your enrollment automatically ("This should only take a few seconds"). If it finds you, pick the college to show on your profile. If not, you come back here and choose email or a document.
3. Wait for approval
After you submit, you'll see "Our team is reviewing your application". On average, review takes 2 to 3 business days, and the team sends updates by email, so check it regularly. Tap Edit My Profile to strengthen your profile while you wait.
When you're approved, you get a push: "You're approved! Your Wyndy sitter account has been approved. You can now start applying for jobs!" The first time you open the app after that, you can update your photo and turn on notifications (or tap Not now).
If you're not approved, the app shows "Application Rejected" with a way to contact the team. If you started a subscription, it reminds you to cancel it with Manage subscription.
4. Set where and when you work, then browse
Go to Me, then Locations & availability. Add one or more locations or use your current location, and pick a distance: jobs within 1, 5, 10, 25 or 50 miles. Then set your weekly availability by day and time. That decides which job alerts you get: "Pick times for job alerts. You'll still see all jobs."
The Jobs tab shows open jobs near you. Switch between List and Calendar, and sort by Newest, Soonest, Nearest or Highest Pay. Tap Decline to hide a job you don't want, then Undo if you change your mind. New jobs also come as a push: "New job from {Parent}: ${rate}/hr on {date}. Tap to apply!"
5. Apply to a job
Open a job to see the description, tasks, children's ages, pets, other adults, recent sickness, the area and the estimated pay. Tap Apply. On Apply now, turn on each commitment:
- "I am available to work on {date} at {time}"
- "I have reviewed and am willing to work with {Parent}"
- "I can regularly work on {days}" (recurring jobs only)
- "If confirmed by the parent, I agree to work this job"
- "If this booking includes driving, I have a valid license and auto insurance and agree to the Driving Terms"
Sign by typing or drawing ("Signature not stored."), then tap Confirm and apply. You'll see "You're committed!" with what happens next: "If you're picked, the job is yours immediately. There is no second confirmation." and "Not showing up affects your account."
If you haven't set up payouts yet, the app offers "Get paid faster". Tap Set up payments now, or Skip for now.
6. Work the job
When a family books you, you get "You're booked!" and the job moves to your Bookings tab under Active. Its status goes from Booked to Happening Now, then Submit Hours, Waiting for Payment and Completed.
- Before: reminders arrive two days before (if you were booked early) and two hours before. The booking shows the address, with Get directions in Maps, Google Maps or Waze, plus parking instructions and the meeting spot.
- Messaging: tap Message to chat with the family. The chat stays open until 24 hours after the job ends, or longer if the family has a membership.
- After: tap End job. On Confirm hours, "Double check your start and end time, submit your hours and get paid!", then tap Confirm hours.
- Review: rate the family from 1 to 5 stars, with "How was {Parent}? Let other sitters know."
You'll then see "Parent will confirm hours", "Payment is processed" and "You get paid!"
7. Get paid
The family reviews your hours and pays. If they don't, their card is charged automatically 24 hours after you submit your hours. You get "{Parent} paid you!" with what you earned, and the money lands in your Wyndy Balance under Me, then Earnings.
Tap Transfer to Bank. The first time, you set up your payout account with Dots. Each transfer costs $1.50 and typically arrives within a few business days. You keep 100% of tips. See Getting paid.
Good to know
- Cancel 24 or more hours before a job and there's no penalty. Cancelling later counts against you over 90 days: a reminder the first time, a 1-week pause from applying the second time, and a suspension and review the third time. See Cancelling and reliability.
- You can't apply to a job that overlaps one you're already booked for: "You can't apply to this job because you're already booked during this time."
- If a job has been filled or removed, you'll see "This job is no longer available. Go to the job board to find a new job."
- Recurring jobs start with a trial date. Before you apply, the app asks you to confirm you're available for the trial date and the recurring schedule.
- Paid before setting up payouts? You'll get "You have funds waiting!" Set up your payout account to receive them.
- Jobs you've applied to stay under Applied on the Jobs tab. Tap Remove application on a job to withdraw.
Questions
Do I have to confirm a booking?
No. Applying is your commitment. If the family picks you, you're booked right away.
How long does approval take?
On average 2 to 3 business days. Check your email for updates.
Can I apply with no college?
Yes. You need to be 18 or older and pass a background check. If you list a college, Wyndy verifies it.
When do I get paid?
When the family pays after the job, or automatically 24 hours after you submit your hours. Then transfer it to your bank.
