Finding sitters

The Sitters tab lists the verified sitters near you, so you can get to know them before you post a job, and keeps the sitters you already know one tap away. You can sort the list, switch between a list and a grid, search by name or skill, and save the ones you like to Favorites.

Your sitters and everyone nearby

The tab's icon is a heart. Once you've booked a sitter or saved a favorite, a row of chips sits under the Sitters title. Each chip shows one list, and a chip only appears when its list has someone in it.

On Previously booked and Favorites, each row shows the sitter's photo and name, with a heart if they're a favorite. Under the name is your history together, such as how many times you've booked them and the month of the last one. A favorite you haven't booked shows their rating instead. A sitter you've booked and hearted appears on both chips. Tap a row to open the profile.

With nobody booked and no favorites yet, there are no chips, and the tab is the list of sitters near you.

Post a job from your list

When you have chips, a Post a job card floats at the bottom of the tab. It changes with the chip you're on:

You can still change who's ticked on the Post to step before you post. See Inviting specific sitters.

Browse the Sitters tab

1. Tap the Sitters tab.

   It opens on the sitters near your location, sorted by Recently Active. If you have chips, this is All.

2. Check the location pill.

   The pill at the top left shows the city of your current address, or your zip code if you haven't saved an address yet. Tap it to change where you're searching.

3. Pick a sort.

   Tap the sort pill next to it and choose an order (see the table below). The list jumps back to the top each time you change it.

4. Choose list or grid.

   The two buttons at the top right switch between a compact list and a grid of large photo cards.

5. Tap a sitter to open their profile.

   See Sitter profiles for what each part tells you.

Scroll down to load more sitters, and pull down at the top to refresh. The bar with the location and sort tucks away as you scroll down and comes back when you scroll up.

Sort options

Each row shows the sitter's photo, name, star rating (a dash if they haven't been rated yet) and one number. The number follows the sort you pick, so you can read the list in order.

List and grid

Change your location

1. Tap the location pill.

   The Locations screen lists the addresses you've saved, with your current one marked.

2. Tap an address to search from it.

   You're taken back to the list, now showing sitters near that address.

3. Or tap + add a location.

   On Add a location, type the address and pick it from the matches. Fill in any missing parts, add optional parking and meeting spot notes, and tap Save. The new address becomes your current location, you're taken back to the list, and it's ready to use on job posts too.

Posting a job at a saved address also makes it your current location, so the Sitters tab follows where you most recently needed care. See Children and locations for editing and deleting addresses.

Search for a sitter

1. Tap the magnifying glass at the top right of the Sitters tab.

   The Search screen opens with the cursor in Search for a sitter.

2. Type a name or what you're looking for.

   Results appear under MATCHING SITTERS as you type.

3. Or tap a suggestion.

   Under SUGGESTIONS, tap one of "adhd", "newborns", "toddlers", "young children", "pets ok" or "cpr certified" to search for it.

4. Tap a sitter to open their profile, or the X to close search.

   Search looks at sitters near your current location.

Before you type, the screen shows MOST POPULAR SITTERS: a row of the sitters near you who've completed the most jobs. You'll see this once you've saved an address.

What search matches

Search reads the things sitters put on their profiles: their first and last name, what they wrote about themselves, their college, the ages they work with, whether they drive, their capabilities and their certifications. Every word you type has to match, and the start of a word is enough, so "sar" finds Sarah and "cpr" finds CPR certified sitters.

Save sitters to Favorites

Favorites are your shortlist. Add a sitter in any of these ways:

• Tap the heart on their card in the grid view.
• On their profile, tap Favorite under their photo. It changes to Favorited; tap it again to remove them.
• On their profile, tap the ⋯ at the top, then Add to Favorites.
• During sign-up, swipe right on their card.
• After paying for a job, tick the option to add your sitter to Favorites.

To see your list, tap the Favorites chip on the Sitters tab. Me, then Favorites opens the same chip. With no favorites yet, it opens the tab on its usual list of sitters near you. When you post a job, favorites will appear at the top of your candidate list if they are available, and you can choose to send the job to your Favorites only. See Reviews and favorites.

Good to know

• No location yet. If the app has neither an address nor a zip code for you, the tab shows Choose your location. Tap it to add one.
• No sitters found. If nobody matches where you're searching, the list says no sitters match yet and offers Change your location.
• Blocked sitters. Sitters you've blocked don't appear in your list. Unblock them from Me, then Account, then Blocked Sitters.
• Everyone is verified. Every sitter you can see has passed Wyndy's application review and background checks. See Sitter background checks.
• Messaging from a profile. You can message a sitter you've booked any time. To message one you haven't booked, you need a membership and a verified ID. See Messaging.

Questions

Can I book a sitter straight from the Sitters tab?

Not directly. Open their profile and tap Post a job. The post goes to that sitter and, if you like, to other sitters too. Once they apply, you book them in one tap.

Why does a sitter show a dash instead of a rating?

They haven't been rated by a family yet. Their profile says they're new to Wyndy.

How far away are the sitters?

The tab lists sitters near the location in the pill. To search somewhere else, such as a grandparent's house, add that address and select it.

Can I filter by college?

Not from the Sitters tab. Type the college's name in search instead, such as "vanderbilt".
