Badges and verifications

Every badge on a Wyndy profile and what earns it.

Updated Nov 3, 2026Reading time 6 min

On this page

Badges on a Wyndy profile tell you what's been checked and what someone has done on Wyndy. Each one comes from a real check or a real record, so nobody can add or buy a badge themselves.

Sitters and parents carry different badges, because they go through different checks. Sitters pass a background check and an application review. Parents verify their ID. Tap any badge on a profile to see what it covers.

The Wyndy Verified checklist

The Wyndy Verified section opens with "Every sitter on Wyndy completes a multi-step verification before they can work with families." Each row opens to say what it covers.

CheckWhat it covers
Application review"Our team manually reviews every application, including childcare experience, written responses, and references."
Identity & SSN traceRun through Sterling. It uses a Social Security Number and data from more than 10,000 sources to confirm identity and find past addresses, so the right places get searched.
Criminal records checkNational, state and county databases, with any possible match checked against official court records.
Sex offender registryA search of the Family Watchdog national database of public sex offender registries.
The sitter's college, College verifiedShown when the sitter has a college on file. Confirmed through the National Student Clearinghouse, a school .edu email, or an uploaded document.

See Sitter background checks for the full process.

Numbers on a sitter's profile

What you seeWhat it means
"★ 4.9" and "rating"The sitter's average rating from families, out of 5. On the reviews screen it says how many ratings it's based on, such as "12 ratings".
"New" and "to Wyndy"The sitter hasn't been rated yet. Tap it: "{Name} is new to Wyndy and hasn't been rated yet."
"{n} bookings"Jobs the sitter has completed on Wyndy. It shows once a sitter has 10 or more, or when they have bookings and no prior experience listed.
"{n}+ yrs" and "experience"Years of childcare experience, shown instead of bookings for sitters with fewer than 10.

Further down, the experience card splits this into On Wyndy ("Joined {Month Year}") and Before Wyndy, which is marked "self reported". A sitter with no Wyndy jobs yet shows "New to Wyndy".

Labels on applicants

When sitters apply to your job, each applicant card has short reasons under the name.

LabelWhat it means
"Free at your time"Shown on every applicant: they applied, so they've said they're available.
"New to Wyndy"They haven't completed a Wyndy job yet. Some cards add "Be {Name}'s first family."
"{rating} from {n} families"Their average rating and how many families rated them.
"{n} bookings on Wyndy"Jobs they've completed on Wyndy.
"Applied {time} ago"When they applied, such as "Applied 2h ago" or "Applied yesterday".
Highest ratedOn the top applicant, when their rating is higher than every other applicant's.
Most experiencedOn the top applicant, when they have more Wyndy bookings than every other applicant.
❤️ in the push titleThe sitter who applied is one of your favorites.

See Applicants and booking.

The shared profile card

When a sitter shares their profile, the card reads Wyndy Sitter with Background checked, plus their rating (or "New") and their bookings or experience. See Sharing your profile.

Parent badges

Verify Your ID or Verification in ProgressOn the parent's own profileYou haven't verified yet, or your check is still being processed. Tap Verify Your ID to start. Not a badge. It's a reminder on your own profile only.

The parent checklist

A family's Wyndy Verified section opens with "Every family on Wyndy verifies their ID before they can book or message a sitter."

CheckWhat it covers
Government ID scanThe parent scanned a government photo ID, which "our identity verification partner checked to make sure it's genuine."
Selfie match"A live selfie was matched against the photo on their ID, so the person on this account is the person on the ID."
Phone number verified"Every Wyndy account signs in with a phone number confirmed by a one-time code."

Numbers on a family's profile

A family's profile can show their average rating from sitters ("★ 4.8" and "rating"), how many bookings they've completed, and the year they joined ("2025" and "joined"). Each number only appears once there's something to show.

Families represented by a partner

Some jobs are posted by an organization that works with Wyndy on a family's behalf. Sitters see Verified Partner on those families. The app explains that the job "is posted by {organization}, a Wyndy partner" and that the organization "verifies each family they represent."

How sitter and parent checks compare

On a profile's verification section, tap Learn the differences between sitter and parent verification. It shows both side by side.

Good to know

  • Favorite and Favorited on a sitter's profile are buttons for your own Favorites list, not badges.
  • A sitter's rating only shows once a family has rated them. Until then the profile says "New to Wyndy" instead of a number.
  • Wyndy Member means different things on each side: a parent's membership, or a sitter's subscription.
  • On a parent's own view of their profile, the Kids section carries the note "Only booked sitters can see this section." Sitters who haven't been booked don't see the section at all. That's a privacy rule, not a missing check.

Questions

How do I get the ID Verified badge as a parent?

Complete the one-time ID check. The app asks for it before your first booking, or the first time you message a sitter you haven't booked. You can also start it from Verify Your ID on your own profile.

Can a sitter be on Wyndy without Background-checked?

No. Every approved sitter has passed the checks behind it. A sitter can't apply to jobs until they're approved.

Does Wyndy check a sitter's CPR certification?

No. Certifications are self reported, and the profile says so.

Why does a sitter show years of experience instead of bookings?

The profile shows bookings once a sitter has 10 or more on Wyndy. Before that, their years of experience tell you more.

Still stuck? Open the Wyndy app and go to Me, then Help, or contact the Wyndy team.
