About Sara

My name is Sara M, and I’m graduating with my Associate of Applied Science in Early Childhood Education, specializing in Special Needs. Working with children has always been where I feel the most aligned, and my experience reflects that. I’ve worked in a large daycare across every age group, and I’ve also served as a substitute teacher in the Griffin‑Spalding School System, including a long‑term position in a Severe and Profound Special Needs classroom at Griffin High School. Through all of that, I realized something important about myself: I prefer working with fewer children so I can give each one the focused attention, connection, and support they truly need. That’s where I do my best work. I’m skilled in the Georgia Early Learning and Development Standards (GELDS) and the Georgia Standards of Excellence, and I bring a unique perspective as a parent, too. My son is on the autism spectrum, and I have over 100 supervised hours of implementing ABA techniques with him, guided by a Registered Behavior Technician and a Board Certified Behavior Analyst. I’ve also completed the 40‑hour ABA parent training, which has strengthened both my understanding and my compassion. Creativity is a big part of how I teach. I love to sing, dance, craft, explore sensory play, and create early learning activities that match each child’s interests and developmental needs. I’m also studying Conscious Discipline by Dr. Becky Bailey as part of my college coursework, and I’m already integrating those relationship‑based, emotionally supportive strategies into my work. At the heart of everything I do is a simple belief: every child deserves to feel seen, supported, and capable — and I’m committed to being the kind of educator who helps make that happen.
