About Melissa

Hi! I’m Melissa, and I’m a warm, energetic, and experienced childcare professional with more than 20 years of experience caring for and educating children from infancy through elementary school. I absolutely love being around children and believe that some of the best learning happens through everyday moments, play, curiosity, and connection. For nine years, I owned and operated Burlington Playcare, a Massachusetts-licensed in-home daycare, where I cared for children from infants through school age. I loved filling our days with books, silly songs, morning circle time, arts and crafts, sensory activities, yoga and movement, and lots of outdoor play—rain, snow, or sunshine! Since 2017, I have worked as a K–5 Teacher Librarian at Francis Wyman Elementary School in Burlington. I’m also currently pursuing my master’s degree in Library and Information Science at Salem State University. My experience as both an educator and childcare provider has given me a deep understanding of children's developmental, social, emotional, and academic needs. I’m patient, dependable, playful, and organized, and I love getting to know each child as an individual. I enjoy creating a balance of structure and fun while giving children plenty of opportunities to explore their interests and become more independent. Whether we’re curled up with a good book, creating a messy art project, heading outside for an adventure, or simply talking about their day, I want children to feel safe, valued, heard, and excited to be themselves. I’m CPR and First Aid certified, and I’m looking forward to returning to a more personal, hands-on childcare role where I can build a meaningful relationship with a family and become a trusted part of their children’s lives. I truly feel lucky to have spent my career working with children, and I’m excited about the possibility of finding a wonderful family to share the next chapter with!
