About Kaeley

Hello! I take a gentle approach to life and to the people around me. I value LGBTQIA+ rights and culture, inclusive and equitable education, diversity, creativity, respect, empathy, following your curiosities and passions, and setting your own pace. It’s because of this that I’ve always found success and enjoyment working with children. I’m not an intimidating person and I know it, so I often take an approach with children that walks them through identifying their emotions and responses rather than scolding. I believe this approach respects a child’s autonomy, fosters emotional intelligence, and encourages them to ask questions and open up further when they’re know they won’t be yelled at. That being said, I will hold your child to (reasonable) expectations which will include following your rules, following my rules, playing safe, and being respectful (among others). Qualifications: 1.) I’ve worked with boys ages 9-12 and 10-13, 12-13, and 16-17. 2.) I’ve worked as a nanny for three years and a paraeducator for two. 3.) Every child I’ve worked with has had significant improvement in behavior and mood as noted by their families and teachers. 4.) I have knowledge in both psychology and special education, and recently took a parenting course—this has granted me an understanding that each child is unique in their needs and I aim to validate them all. My specific experience is with ADHD, ASD, cerebral palsy, anxiety, and depression. 5.) I’ve got varying levels of experience in supporting students with English, math, science, and history from the 3rd-11th grade. However, I’m not above saying, “I don’t know,” and then walking your child through the process of effectively researching the answer so we can learn together. 6.) I’m a psychology major through an online university enabling me to work on your schedule! 7.) I have some experience in American Sign Language, I used to be fluent. If this applicable to your family, I will gladly brush up on those skills. Thank you!
