About Tye

It has been many years since I babysat consistently, but in those years, I acquired two degrees in writing and communication, held a variety of jobs, and started my own family. While studying for my masters, I learned a lot about early childhood education and neurodivergence. As someone with ADHD, I am particularly interested in working with neurodivergent families/children. When my son was born in 2022, I stayed home with him while attending graduate classes online. As a mom, and as caretaker, I consult evidence-based research and evaluate each child's individual needs to create an environment that is safe, fun, and educational for the whole group. Children are much smarter than adults often give them credit for, and I have made it my mission to always assume that kids are capable and mostly in need of support and/or direction to accomplish complex tasks. I promote independence and responsibility within the collective. Until recently, I have worked behind a desk, answering phones, writing emails, and I just can't do it anymore. I have taught music lessons to kids ages 5-14, and currently teach private piano, and violin lessons. I include informal music education as a babysitter! Routines and schedules are important, and I work closely with families to ensure that my role allows for a certain level of spontaneity, while ensuring that the family functions as efficiently as they prefer. Life changes quickly and without much warning, so the key to a good working relationship is clear, concise, and timely communication. I find this statement to be true in many situations, in fact. If you want someone who loves nurturing children, encourages independence while also strengthening community, and prioritizes human connection over everything else...that's me.
