Specialized Care: ADHD, Autism, Developmental Challenges

I have worked in a daycare setting for the past year and a half, where I have gained valuable hands-on experience caring for and teaching young children. Each day, I help create a safe, positive, and nurturing environment while supervising children and meeting their individual needs. My daily responsibilities include preparing and leading age-appropriate learning activities, arts and crafts, reading, practicing basic educational skills, encouraging language and social development, and providing opportunities for indoor and outdoor play. I also assist with preparing and serving meals and snacks, feeding children when needed, diapering and potty-training routines, nap time, classroom cleaning, and maintaining an organized environment. Throughout the day, I monitor children’s behavior and development, help resolve conflicts, provide comfort and emotional support, and encourage positive behavior and independence. My daycare experience has strengthened my patience, communication, classroom management, multitasking, and problem-solving skills while allowing me to build meaningful relationships with the children in my care.

I’m a 19-year-old college student who genuinely enjoys spending time with kids and making sure they have a fun, safe, and comfortable time while their parents are away! I’ve had the opportunity to babysit for a family of boys for the past two summers. During the day, I would make lunch, take them to the park and other places, and come up with things to do to keep them entertained. I’ve also babysat a brother and sister from time to time for a few hours, where we would make up games, play together, and find fun ways to spend our time. I also have experience as a daycare teacher, which gave me even more experience working with children and taught me how to be patient, responsible, and creative when it comes to keeping kids happy and engaged. It was an experience I really enjoyed and learned a lot from! I’m currently attending Northwest Shoals Community College and plan to transfer to the University of North Alabama to study Social Work. I’m a caring, responsible, and easygoing person, and I love getting to know each child’s personality and finding activities they enjoy. Whether it’s playing outside, doing crafts, coming up with silly games, or just hanging out, I’m always happy to make babysitting a fun experience!
