My name is Paola C I’m a freshman student-athlete at Shasta college. I plan to major in dental hygiene. Going to the dentist as a kid and having a loving and caring hygienist has motivated me to achieve this goal. My fall back major would be to become a teacher of some sort just like my mom! I I’ve enjoyed working with kids most of my high schools years as a teacher aide. I come from a rural community of Tulelake California and living on my own and meeting new personalities has been amazing Redding has been good to me!

As a Human Services major, I’ve had the opportunity to intern at places where I worked with children of all ages and of different abilities. I understand how important the needs are for children for their cognitive development. We live in a place where raising a child is outside of most people’s means and not enough services to accommodate the already busy schedules of most parents. That’s where I come in, community organization is a passion of mine and I believe it’s my duty to help others. In terms of childcare, I know that children are still growing and learning and a key skill to have is patience. I will take the time to help with cooking, engaging with sensory toys and development learning activities, I also can tutor and help with homework.
