As someone with nieces and nephews ranging from ages 2-10 years old, I’ve been caring for children since I was 13 years old. In addition to my personal experience, I also worked part time as a competitive cheerleading coach. In that role, I regularly supervised, instructed, and mentored young athletes, helping them both grow in skill and confidence. I am also child/infant CPR certified, ensuring I can provide a safe environment ☺️

I have 5+ years of childcare experience. My home town offered babysitting courses when you turn 12 and I jumped in as soon as I could! I gained my CPR and first aid certifications and babysat for families in my neighborhood until I graduated high school. In college I studied Human Development and Family Studies while working at a wrap around care facility for children ages 4-16. As a graduate student I went back to community based babysitting and studied occupational therapy with an emphasis in pediatrics.

I am very passionate about art education and am well-versed in helping kids find creative outlets early in their life! I took one formal year of a child development class in high school, where I looked after kids from 7mo-5 years of age for a few hours every day for the entire year. I have also worked as a mentor for high school-aged students on the speech and debate/forensics team at my high school, in addition to looking after my cousins growing up. I have also taken a few child development classes at my alma mater, UW-Madison, focused on how children learn using art education. I volunteered last summer with a nonprofit in Wisconsin to create healthy breakfast menus for their summer program that feeds kids from 0-12 years of age. I also interned at another Wisconsin nonprofit that worked with K-12 schools to educate kids on civic engagement. All of this, combined with my entire community/friend group being educators (whether future professors or current teachers), makes me confident in my ability to work with and truly connect with kids. I would love to work around my schedule as a graduate student at the University of Chicago and am flexible about my start date!
