Hi, I’m Aubrey! I’m from the east coast of Washington state, but I’m living in Rexburg as a junior studying child development at BYU-Idaho. I come from a big family, (I’m the oldest of 10 children,) and from those experiences with my siblings, I found that I enjoy working with kids and playing with them. I recently worked at a daycare with kids specifically ages 1-2 years, and I have also worked as a para educator full time in a special education class (K-2nd grade.) While working with kids, I love their energy and enthusiasm for life and have discovered their love for play! I believe every child has a special spirit and deserves to be seen and loved. My babysitting experience began when I was 13 years old. I babysat for several families in my church and community, ages ranging from 6 months to 11 years old. That experience continued throughout college where I worked for a few families with kids under 2. After college I have had three jobs all involving children. One being a babysitting job for a 1 year old, another job at the boys & girls club with middle schoolers, and a teacher’s assistant for special education high school students. I graduated college with a bachelors in sociology. It opened my eyes to just how important the family unit is and especially the development of children. I want to use my education and experience in childcare to be a positive support in the difficult task of raising children. I have found that not only my education and experience has been useful in childcare but my artistic and creative abilities. It has allowed me to connect with kids on a more engaging level without being too reliant on technology.
