Hello! My name is Joshua and I am a recent graduate of George Washington University in Washington, D.C.. Throughout my college career, I’ve had the opportunity to work closely with children and youth ranging from ages 3 to 15, in both instructional and leadership roles. I began as a classroom instructor in a public afterschool program, designing age-appropriate lessons and activities for preschool students that supported their development while also building strong, trust-based relationships with students and their caregivers. Eventually, I transitioned into managing the entire afterschool program, where I worked with students across all age groups and led large-scale programming. These experiences taught me how to form deep, adaptive relationships with children of diverse backgrounds, temperaments, and abilities—including those with disabilities and varied life experiences. I came to understand that my most effective way of supporting children and their families is through meaningful connection, not just the application of standardized “best practices.” When conventional approaches fall short, I remain creative, persistent, and responsive, tailoring my support to each child’s individual needs. This approach deepened further over the summer, when I worked in a middle school facilitating a civic engagement program. In this role, I guided students in exploring issues affecting their lives and communities and supported them as they developed the confidence and capacity to take action. Rather than providing direct solutions, I helped them reframe challenges, identify their own strengths, and tap into available resources. This experience sharpened my ability to support children through appropriate levels of challenge, encouraging self-determination, resilience, and conflict resolution, while also reinforcing the importance of community support.I hope to work more closely with a family to collaboratively approach support and care for the children I work with. Partnering with a family in this capacity allows me to engage more personally and meaningfully with the child/children to create more space for appropriate, responsive, and relevant care. This aligns with my continuing education goals of child development, and allows me to further gain experience on professional and family partnership, where I can build mutual trust and work together to uplift each child.

Hi! I’m an experienced babysitter and certified teacher with a strong background in early childhood development and years of experience caring for children from infants to pre-teens. Families describe me as calm, patient, dependable, and nurturing. I’m comfortable balancing safety, structure, and fun so children feel cared for, engaged, and supported.I am CPR and First Aid certified, have my own reliable transportation, and can help with meal prep, light housekeeping, routines, homework support, playtime, and daily updates. My teaching background also allows me to bring age-appropriate activities, patience, and strong communication into my care.I’m also very comfortable with pets as a dog owner myself, and I understand that pets are part of the family too. I know how important it is to find someone you can truly trust with your child. My goal is to be a reliable, caring, and supportive presence for your family while making sure your child feels safe, happy, and understood.

Hello! My name is Sharon, and I am a recent college graduate looking to work in DC for this year.I graduated in May with a degree in English literature, and am in the process of applying to graduate programs for August 2027! I am currently working part time for a literacy nonprofit in DC and am looking to supplement my income with another part time position. (I do not have a vehicle with me in DC, but do possess a valid drivers lisence and am quite comfortable using public transportation.) I have been babysitting since I was 15, beginning as a mother’s helper before transitioning into a full time babysitter role. I have cared for children ages 2-13, both boys and girls, as a babysitter and a nanny. While in college, I worked as a nanny for a family with 3 children for multiple summers, and during the school year, for a family with one child for weekday/weekend nights. My experience includes: transportation for children to and from school/camp/extracurricular activities, assigning chores, working on schoolwork, cooking, bed time routine, and engaging in activities which align with the family’s culture! Additionally, I have worked as a camp counselor for the YMCA summer program, working as a site lead for after-school care (1st-5th grade), and as a counselor for summer camp (3rd grade).I am enthusiastic about creating an engaging environment for children to thrive! I am warm, kind, creative, and responsible; working with children has always been a joy for me!

Aloha☺️ I’m Rachel! Caring for children has been a meaningful part of my life for many years. Before becoming a wife and mother, I spent over four years working as a professional nanny, caring for children of different ages and supporting families in their day-to-day routines. After starting my own family, I continued providing childcare for several more years before taking a step back to focus on raising my own children.Outside of babysitting, I’m a wife, a mother of five, a musician/ vocalist, and an active member of my church community. I enjoy spending time with my family, have a special place in my heart for seniors, and enjoy serving them whenever I can. I believe care is one of the greatest ways we can love people, and that belief shapes the way I approach every family I have the privilege of serving.Children have a way of seeing wonder in ordinary moments, and I genuinely enjoy joining them there—from building blanket forts, reading stories, playing charades (my personal fave 🤭), dancing in the living room, or simply talking about their day. My hope is that every child I care for feels safe, valued, and free to be themselves.
