It is my belief that children are active citizens now, not in training. Children have an amazing creativity and imagination to them that makes working with this age group, a joy. They often teach me just as much as I teach them. I started working with kids when I was 14! I started off babysitting and tutoring neighborhood kids. As I grew older, I worked at a children's amusement park in Phoenix before moving up to Flagstaff to study early childhood and special education. I’ve worked within the FUSD for 2+ years as an after school activity coordinator and am completing my student teaching internship in a local elementary school. Hello! My name is Holland, I’m 21 and I’m from Arizona. I’m relocating to Poughkeepsie, New York very soon and am so excited to get to experience the East Coast after living in a desert my entire life! In my free time I love to read, bake, and spend time with my cats (and study, of course). In high school I completed a medical assistant program, but switched gears to psychology after graduation. I am a full time college student finishing my Bachelor’s in Psychology. I have been working as a youth behavior coach for almost a year now, where I work with children and adolescents who struggle with emotional and/or behavioral issues. It’s amazing to see their progress and watch them flourish when they receive the attention, care, and patience they deserve. I am also CPR & first aid certified from infant to adults!
