Right before I started school fulltime I was a fulltime nursing assistant at St. Vincent’s! I worked nightshift and worked for almost two years on our surgery unit and our cardiac unit. I quit once I became a fulltimestudent. I am BLS certified, have the covid vaccine, I am a CPCT, and am trained to deal with many types of medical emergencies. I’ve always loved kids and hope to have my own someday after I finish college!

Hello!I started babysitting in college and have since then sat regularly for over 10 families at a time. The summer during my gap year, I nannied a 4 month old while working at a non-profit and a law firm to save money for my move to Chicago. As a law student in Chicago, I babysat consistently and became the go-to date night, workday, and last minute errand sitter for several families with children ages 9 months to 3 years. I moved to Nashville in 2020 to join my husband who is a pediatric resident at Vanderbilt and finished up law school in our Midtown living room during COVID-19. He also babysits and odds are you’ve come across his profile while finding mine—we always end up sitting for a lot of the same families! Now, I am focusing on studying for the bar and babysitting as study breaks while my husband works and I work remotely during the day as a fellow at a nonprofit with funding from Equal Justice Works (https://www.equaljusticeworks.org/fellows/fernanda-herrera-spieler/).I love playing outside with the kids I sit for and playing board games as well.I enjoy reading and singing to children and watching them learn new things if they’re a family I’ve sat for regularly. Babysitting has been a great source of relaxation and inspiration for me as I am able to forget about the worries of the world when I am 100% focused on the kids I'm spending time with.A huge plus for me is getting to learn about the awesome families living in Nashville! I’ve also enjoyed all of the professional and friendship connections I’ve acquired through babysitting. As a not yet licensed attorney working on a project with Equal Justice Works as their Text-to-Give Fellow during Covid-19, it’s been difficult to work from home without another person in the legal field to connect with. I love babysitting for children whose parents are interested in speaking to me about all things legal and treasure the many friendships my husband and I have made through babysitting during a time when new friendships are difficult to make as young professionals new to a vibrant city. Over the years, we’ve been invited to dinners, holidays, outings, and visits with the families we’ve sat for in Birmingham, Chicago, and now Nashville. Babysitting has truly become our favorite activity as individuals and as a couple while we learn about who we are as young adults and share our babysitting experiences (and sometimes families when one of us is not available).
