Hi! My name is Lalia (Luh-lee-ah) currently 27 years old. I am the eldest sister of my family so I was tasked with responsibilities at a young age. I started baby sitting around age 14 and been doing it since. The youngest I have taken care of were premature twins and the oldest has been so far 13 years old. Hi! My name is Savannah and I attend UAB. I am studying to be an Elementary school teacher. I have been babysitting for over 6 years. I began with a neighbor and their first child who is now in kindergarten. Over the last 4 years, her parents have entrusted her two younger siblings, now 4 and almost 1, in my care as young as two weeks old. I have grown to love working with children and have great pride in celebrating milestones (like first steps and words, birthdays, and starting Kindergarten) with them and their families. I have been told on many occasions, “You are the best babysitter I’ve ever had.” Not only have I been told this by the children I am caring for, but also their parents. I have been able to diversify my experiences by networking with friends, family, and my church. While working after-school programs and summer camps, I have gained additional experience working with special needs (Autism and ADD/ADHD) children who require individual attention and smaller groups. I have also been responsible for as many as 20 children during after-school care and summer programs.
