Hi there! I am a a senior at Samford University, studying Health Sciences in hopes to pursue my doctorate in Occupational Therapy specifically pediatrics. I am a Samford University Ambassador and involved in a sorority on campus. I love to be outside, engage in creative outlets, and spend time with my loved ones. I am also getting married this coming July and hope to stay in Birmingham this upcoming year. I have had a heart for childcare for as long as I could remember! Even when I was little I would ask to go with my mom to volunteer on Sunday mornings in our church's nursery. Once I was around 13, I began babysitting for families in my church. I would volunteer for children's ministries and childcare opportunities. My summer after senior year of high school, I was a paid intern for the church's children ministry. In my college summers, I worked as a counselor and senior counselor at Pine Cove City Camps. I have babysat throughout middle school, high school, and college. I want to pursue my doctorate in pediatric occupational therapy after I graduate this May. To prepare for this I have shadowed and volunteered in the Mountain Brook School System, several outpatient clinics, inpatient services, and other opportunities. I have served a wide range of ages, from newborns to 13 years old. I have babysat for long periods and even overnight stays. To work in childcare I believe it is necessary to value the hearts of the parents/caregivers as much as you value the heart of the children. When you volunteer, babysit, or nanny you must remember that this child you are caring for is someone's biggest blessing, so you must also care for them as if they are your biggest blessing. This means you also must be as reliable, trustworthy, and excellent as you would be for a position with an organization/company.
