Hi there! My name is Mikaela, and I’m a 27 year old Mizzou graduate who is currently living in Lakeview East. I’ve babysat / nannied for most of my life, including working for an agency doing backup care and event care. I’ve worked with over a hundred families over the years and have truly seen it all. I have worked with every type of family under the sun, including kids with various disabilities, different ages and demographics, etc. I currently watch an 8 year old child on a regular basis, often driving her to and from activities/ school and providing overnight care, sometimes for a week at a time during the hours she’s not in school. I use public transportation and do not have my own car, but am comfortable driving anyone’s car and maintain a clean driving record. I am a VERY cautious driver, especially in the city and in someone else’s car. I am currently studying for the LSAT and will hopefully start law school next year to become a child advocacy / juvenile lawyer so I can take my passion for helping families to the next level. My favorite part of working in childcare is the personal impact I get to have on people’s lives. I love the lasting connections I’ve made with families and their children, and I still keep in touch with all of the families I’ve ever nannied for to this day, even though many of the children are older now. There is nothing more personal than trusting someone with the most precious cargo, and it is not a responsibility I take lightly!
