About Melody

Hi neighbors! My name is Melody. I’m a former teacher and mom to an adult son with autism, with over 20 years of experience caring for, teaching, and supporting kids of all ages and abilities. I have a degree in Education and spent several years teaching middle school math and science before eventually moving into training, caregiving, and community-based work. I’ve also spent many years navigating IEPs, accommodations, different learning styles, and the everyday realities of raising neurodivergent kids. I’m comfortable with children who may need a little extra patience, structure, flexibility, sensory support, or help communicating their needs. I’m also happy hanging out with your easygoing kid who just wants someone to play games, make crafts, go outside, help with homework, or make dinner with them! As a parent myself, I know how important it is to have someone you genuinely feel comfortable leaving your child with. My goal is to be a calm, reliable extra set of hands and to meet each child and family where they are. I’m especially interested in connecting with families in the Midlothian/Richmond area for babysitting, occasional care, date nights, after-school help, tutoring, and family support.
