About Nia
Hi! My name is Nia and I’m an Art History and Film Major at UW Seattle. I am incredibly passionate about art and art education, and would love the opportunity to provide children the creative outlets that they may not have access to in a regular school curriculum. Currently I work out of the Northwest African American’s Museum’s Benjamin Banneker Math Room, where I work with children of all ages to provide new ways to engage with math and develop critical thinking skills through puzzles and other games. My views on childcare and education are shaped by my time at a Montessori school, where I not only learned the importance of self-reliance and independence, but an understanding that a strong community is necessary for a child to thrive.
