About Cristina
Since I was younger, when I lived in Mexico I worked with kids as a babysitter. The kids of my moms’s friends and also my cousins. When I moved to the USA, I began teaching and also making connections with my students, so we kept in contact and I became babysitter as well. Now, I am a high qualified bilingual/Dual Language/ESL teacher with 17 years of experience. I have taught from Kindergarten to 2nd grade and Summer courses to 3rd and 4th grade students. I currently teach Kindergarten Dual Language Model in a Texas School and I love it. I am teaching Literacy in Spanish along with Science and Social Studies; and Math 100% in English. But for 14 years I focused entirely to teach English to my young students focusing on foundational skills, phonological awareness and phonic awareness. I am very eager to teach online, I had experience during the pandemic and I feel I can still make a difference during these tough times. I have my bachelor degree in International Relations coursed in Universidad Autonoma de Guadalajara, Jalisco Mexico. I am a certified teacher in Early. Childhood- 4th grade, also in Science of Teaching reading and I have a Masters degree in Bilingual and ESL education in Texas A&M. I have worked with Dyslexia programs like Neuhaus Education Center, I-ready, Lexia and Amplify. I love to teach children to their max potential and treat them with respect and patience. I always provide constructive feedback and challenge them to use high critical thinking skills in their learning. Note: I came to the US when I was 25. I studied my bachelors and high school in Mexico.
