Hiiiii! I’m Marissa, a recent graduate of Belmont University in Nashville, Tennessee, and I’m so excited to be back home in Washington, DC! Born and raised in Northeast DC, moving to the south for college was definitely a leap of faith, but it turned out to be one of the best decisions I’ve ever made. Still, there’s nothing like being back in the dmv! Combined I have several years of both professional and volunteer experience working with children in a variety of settings. My background includes serving as an Afterschool Instructor for Pre-K3 through 5th grade students in DCPS, as well as leadership roles as a Resident Assistant during college; as well as serving with my hometown church and college town children’s ministry as an aide or whenever there was a need! Outside of working with children and students directly, I have experience working within the food service industry as a server and the performing arts as both a musician and music theory tutor! I’m also the youngest of nine siblings with lots of nieces and nephews, so caring for children has always been a big part of my life! I’ve worked with children ranging from little infants and toddlers to elementary-aged kids, and I genuinely love helping young minds learn, grow, and have fun. When I’m not working, you’ll usually find me out on a hike, spending time with my friends, or binge-watching some cringey tv show I probably found through TikTok! Whether we’re doing crafts, playing outside, reading books, or winding down for bedtime, my goal is always to make sure your child feels safe, cared for, and has a great time.
