About Marguerite

Hello all! I’m Marguerite, a second year sociology major at Temple University. I’m from Cheltenham, PA and throughout my childhood I’ve enjoyed playing multiple different sports, competing in swimming, running (cross country and track&field), mountain biking, basketball, and most recently rugby. Being active is such an important part of life, and it positively impacts my life consistently. I’ve struggled with my mental health for about 7 years now; learning new perspectives and methods has been key to getting me where I am. I love seeing kids enjoy being outdoors and falling in love with nature. I’m determined to make a positive impact with my life— I want to help others and learn from them. Working with children has been my favorite job and a passion of mine. Since I was around ten years old, I asked my mom each Sunday at church if I could go upstairs to help with the nursery. Many of the childcare opportunities I’ve experienced are a result of neighbors and community members with children ages 3 months - 10 years old. I find that babysitting is an incredibly rewarding job for quite a few reasons, my top three in no particular order being 1) the opportunity to watch a child grow and learn and live life, 2) getting to learn from them, seeing new perspectives and methods of thinking and 3) well, the compensation is admittedly wonderful, but so is knowing I get to help somebody who trusts me with their children to keep them safe, entertained, fed, and cared for while their parents/guardians attend to their matters, whether that be self care or work or sleeping or anything! It is a privilege to care for wonderful children and learn from them, as well as helping to figure out what it is I want from life.
