About Alafia

I'm a child care provider who comes from 5 generations of domestic workers and educators. I grew up in Raleigh, North Carolina, and have over 10 years of professional childcare experience working with children of all ages, from infants through school age. I take pride in creating a calm, nurturing, and engaging environment where children feel safe, supported, and encouraged to learn through play and exploration. I believe in partnering closely with parents/family to provide consistent, dependable care while cultivating each child's independence, curiosity, and confidence. Whether we're reading stories, exploring outdoors, creating crafts, or tackling homework, I will strive to make every day both meaningful and fun. Outside of work, I enjoy spending time with my dog and two cats, writing, and finding new creative outlets. I bring that same creativity into my work by encouraging imagination, storytelling, and hands on learning experiences. I pride myself in becoming a trusted extension of a family's support system and helping all children grow into happy, confident people.
