About Makayla

My name is Makayla, and I am a Junior Psychology major with a strong passion for working with children to support their growth and development. My interest in childcare kicked off in 2021 when I began babysitting for some of my younger family members, where I gained hands-on experience supervising children, assisting with daily routines, creating engaging activities, and providing a safe and nurturing environment. What started as helping family members soon grew into paid babysitting opportunities, allowing me to develop valuable skills in responsibility, communication, patience, and child supervision. In addition to babysitting, I have experience working with children in childcare and educational settings, where I have supported children’s social, emotional, and cognitive development through age-appropriate activities and positive role modeling. My background in psychology has strengthened my understanding of child behavior and development, helping me build meaningful connections with children while meeting their individual needs. I enjoy creating fun, engaging experiences for children while ensuring they feel safe, supported, and encouraged to learn and grow. Outside of childcare and academics, I enjoy baking, visiting museums, exploring local markets, and spending time outdoors. I love discovering new places, trying new foods, taking walks, and exploring nature whenever I can. These hobbies allow me to stay creative, curious, and active, which are qualities that I also enjoy bringing into my work with children. I am dedicated, dependable, and passionate about making a positive impact on the lives of children and families through compassionate care and meaningful engagement.
