About Kara

Hello! My professional experience working with children began when I was in high school. I was a nanny for twins and for a family with 5 children. I also frequently babysat 7 of my neighbors' 10 children. In college, I worked as a teacher assistant and a shadow (for a student with Autism) in two different schools and in a church nursery. I also worked as a behavioral technician for children with Autism. After college, I worked in an adolescent group home and for the past 4.5 years I've worked providing social services in juvenile court. I've worked with a variety of behaviors and every age range. I'm in my last year of graduate school to obtain my Masters of Social Work and currently intern at Woman's Hospital in the Mother/Baby and NICU departments. I also nanny three children in the early mornings and drop them off to school before going to work. I enjoy incorporating a holistic view of child development into my interactions with the children I care for. I'm willing to help with preparing meals, managing carpools and tidying up as well. I enjoy getting to know each child as an individual and finding ways to incorporate their talents and interests into their care in a fun way that also prioritizes their mental health! I am also comfortable with pets and have my own vehicle. I look forward to learning how to best meet your family's needs!
