About Louise

I have extensive experience working with children and students in both educational and church settings. For approximately six years, I worked in the public school setting mainly as an Instructional Assistant. I have experience with preschool-12th grade. Primarily supporting students with exceptional needs, including students with autism and developmental disabilities. My responsibilities included assisting students with academic activities, personal care and hygiene, communication, self-advocacy, social skills, and developing greater independence. I also collected and documented IEP-related data and worked closely with teachers, families, and related service providers, including occupational, physical, and speech therapists. This experience taught me the importance of patience, consistency, compassion, and adapting my approach to meet each child's individual needs. Outside of my professional experience, I have also regularly worked with children through my church. These experiences have allowed me to interact with children of different ages, personalities, abilities, and backgrounds in group and individual settings. I particularly enjoy creating an environment where children feel welcomed, included, and comfortable participating. My professional and church experiences have strengthened my ability to build positive relationships with children while maintaining appropriate boundaries, providing guidance, and ensuring their safety. Working with children with exceptional needs has been especially meaningful to me, and I value the opportunity to help children develop confidence, independence, and a sense of belonging. I am also a certified EMT.
