Aloha! I’m Lys, an experienced preschool teacher, all-ages reading tutor, and birth doula. I bring peaceful, playful, honest, and personalized support for the day-to-day emotional, physical, and developmental needs of children, and their families. I have 4+ years of professional experience supporting children and teens with physical and mental disabilities, ADHD, autism, and Down’s syndrome. At every age and level of ability, I encourage the kids’ feeling of connection/community and independence/empowerment. For example, creating fun, age-appropriate housecleaning and food prep rituals, giving them trust, patience, and opportunity to practice lifelong skills. I actively, enthusiastically listen when children share their thoughts, and I encourage them, and parents, to feel confident sharing opinions, ideas, and questions. As a caregiver for your family, I’m on your team! As a birth doula, reiki practitioner, yogi, and musician, I bring a bit of woo-woo and lot of creative encouragement for kids to be themselves, and keep growing. That being said, as a new member to the team, I trust parents to know their kids best and I happily integrate parents’ direction, and redirection.
