About Deborah

I babysat when I was ages 12 - 15. I raised two children. a boy and a girl. I have been working in an office setting for over 20 years and decided that I wanted a change. I love the outdoors, music, art, animals, continued learning, Science and History. I was a member of the Optimist Club of Shreveport for more than (6) six years. I was President for a year. We spent a lot of time with the Salvation Army Boys and Girls Club. Tristar Football, baseball, basketball where they competed for different events. Everyone received a ribbon. I volunteered 115 hours with WERLA (Wildlife Education and Rehabilitation of Louisiana) in 2024. We rescued squirrels, opossum, raccoons, owls, hawks, beaver, and other animals. If they were healthy, we would release them back into nature. While Walter B. Jacobs was remodeling their nature center, we were caring for the owls, eagle and turkey vulture. I am great with children and animals. Note: I noticed a question about autism asking if I have had experience. My nephew has autism and I have let him spend the night with me a few times. He is grown now and has been working at Walmart as a cashier. His symptoms were mild. I am very patient and kind, but I still have structure. A little bit about my background. Our daddy was a Judo instructor at the YMCA in Bossier and Broodmoor for 30 years. He made sure that we had structure in our home and he held us accountable. Our daddy would make sure that me and my siblings were ready for school every morning because mom left early for work. Mom took care of us in the evenings when Daddy was teaching Judo. He also was manager of a transportation company. The same rules that our parents had for us, I had for my children. I taught them manners, being fair, being completely honest and about having principles and values.
