Hello! I’m Mary and I am a very enthusiastic, curious, nurturing, and highly organized yet fun nanny. I have a B.A. in Neuroscience & Psychology from C.U. Boulder. I love learning and encourage continuous education beyond schooling by finding creative ways to incorporate it throughout the day and outside. While at home, I love to read non-fiction, holistic psychology, cook, bake, paint, arts & crafts, and garden. Growing up in a mountain town, I’ve always loved the outdoors. I enjoy camping, fishing, hiking, skiing, rafting, trail running, yoga, and biking. I’ve lived in Colorado for over 20 years and am very familiar with local trails, camping spots, lakes, rivers, and skiing. I’m currently learning how to snowboard and play guitar. I also enjoy live music and international travel. I consider myself an open and articulate communicator with a high level of emotional intelligence and sincerity. I thrive off efficiency and organization whether in the home, pantry, or office – organization is the thread that holds my life together and my Superpower. I began babysitting in middle school, worked in a preschool during high school, spent a gap year as a nanny, and continued working with children through college and afterwards. I have worked with children as young as three months old through young adulthood. In high school, I worked in a preschool Montessori classroom and as a lifeguard teaching children’s swim lessons. I have continuously been CPR, AED, & First Aid certified for almost 25 years. After graduating high school, I spent a gap year before college working as a nanny for the Armstrong Family in Aiken, S.C. then through college and for four years after graduating. Their two daughters were six months and three years old at the time, respectively. They later adopted two more children and the father has a son from previous relationship as well. I am lucky to still have a wonderful relationship with the parents and all five children and to be a part of each child’s journey and development. They consider me family and I visit or travel with them several times a year. I worked for Denver Children’s Home, one of the oldest non-profit organizations in Colorado as a counselor in both the residential and school program. I tutored children in school throughout the day then provided residential support in the afternoons, evenings, and overnights. I have worked with gifted children as well as children with special needs and learning disabilities. I currently work part-time as a nanny for the Chapman Family in Denver since their daughter’s births in 2019 and 2021. I also work part-time as a residential counselor for a mental health hospital step-down program with young adults transitioning to independent living. I teach educational groups on daily living skills, nutrition, wellness, and medication management. I also develop plans centered around educational and career goals while managing the many essential obligations of running a 24-hour residential facility.
