Hello, I am currently 24 years old and a college student at OCTC. I am currently enrolled for an Associates degree in science, and I then plan to apply to the Medical Diagnostic Sonography program. I am a Registered Behavioral Tech, I work with children with autism and intellectual disabilities. I also have experience working as child care staff at St. Joseph Peace Mission. Mainly have experience with ages ranging from newborn to 14 years old. I love planning fun, educational, activities, especially when it comes to science! Hi! I’m Kendall and I am from Franklin, TN. I am going to Western Kentucky University in the fall but I am in Franklin/Nashville area for the summer. I have extensive experience working with children and students in both educational and church settings. For approximately six years, I worked in the public school setting mainly as an Instructional Assistant. I have experience with preschool-12th grade. Primarily supporting students with exceptional needs, including students with autism and developmental disabilities. My responsibilities included assisting students with academic activities, personal care and hygiene, communication, self-advocacy, social skills, and developing greater independence. I also collected and documented IEP-related data and worked closely with teachers, families, and related service providers, including occupational, physical, and speech therapists. This experience taught me the importance of patience, consistency, compassion, and adapting my approach to meet each child's individual needs.Outside of my professional experience, I have also regularly worked with children through my church. These experiences have allowed me to interact with children of different ages, personalities, abilities, and backgrounds in group and individual settings. I particularly enjoy creating an environment where children feel welcomed, included, and comfortable participating. My professional and church experiences have strengthened my ability to build positive relationships with children while maintaining appropriate boundaries, providing guidance, and ensuring their safety.
