About the Role:
We are seeking a patient, creative, and highly intuitive caregiver to support a wonderful individual named Caleb. The ideal candidate has a loving heart and an "out of the box" approach to caregiving. Caleb thrives in an environment where expectations are realistic, and we are looking for someone who understands that traditional compliance and multi-step verbal directions are not effective for him. Instead, we focus on connection, visual/tactile routines, and celebrating small victories.

Key Responsibilities

Routine Guidance: Gently assist Caleb with his daily transition routines, such as taking his cups, folder, and lunch box out of his book bag and placing them on the counter.

Step-by-Step Support: Prompt and encourage Caleb to put his shoes in his bedroom closet, utilizing visual cues or modeling rather than relying solely on verbal commands.

Emotional Co-Regulation: Recognize the signs of sensory or task overwhelm. Guide Caleb through his "blow it out" breathing technique to help him reset his nervous system.

Positive Reinforcement: Consistently offer warm, verbal encouragement ("You can do it," "Good job," "Alright!") for any step taken in the right direction (successive approximation).

Required Qualifications & Traits

Extreme Patience: A deep understanding that on "high-gravity" or sensory-heavy days, routines may take longer or look different, and that is perfectly okay.

Adaptability: The ability to pivot away from verbal directions and instead use modeling, visual checklists, and low-pressure cues.

Empathy & Heart: A genuine desire to connect with Caleb and act as a calming, regulating presence in his day.

Observation Skills: The ability to read non-verbal cues and anticipate when Caleb might need a break before he becomes fully overwhelmed.
