About Abigail
Growing up my mom worked as the Director of Operations at a non-profit working to provide a full breadth of resources for healthy living to inner-city families in Detroit. I constantly got to be a volunteer involved with the program's multitude of events, which allowed me to interact and help entertain and take care of young kids. At the age of 14, I began babysitting for families around our neighborhood. I did so until college, where I then moved to Savannah and worked as a part-time nanny for a private family for all 4 years of my undergraduate. I worked for 1 child who was 11-14, but cognitively functioned at 3-6 years old. With an emphasis on schedule and consistency, I prepared and cooked meals, administered medicine, supervised play, assisted with reading skills, and created walks / activities around the downtown area while adapting to stimulation tolerance. I moved to Pullman this summer where I am now pursuing my masters at WSU and spent the fall as a member of the Women’s Soccer team. I spent some of my free time volunteering as a reading buddy for a 2nd grade class at Jefferson Elementary School. I am a 22 year old student at Washington State University currently pursuing my MBA. I was given the opportunity to become a 5-year student athlete on the Women’s Soccer team at WSU, after completing my first 4 seasons during my undergraduate at the Savannah College of Art and Design where I pursued a degree in Film Production. During my senior year, I helped captain my team to the program’s first NAIA National Championship title. I produced 2 theses projects, worked as the production designer for 4 theses, and directed my own music video in correlation with my capstone in this past year. Family is a huge part of my life, and heavily influenced my decision to move across the country to WA since my sister lives in Vancouver. I greatly enjoy volunteering in my free time, including at the dog shelter, elementary schools, churches, and food banks. Photography and editing are my most passionate hobbies. My schedule is very flexible 8-5 P.M. with availability for weekends for the upcoming months, so I would be very happy to settle into a full-time position, or something more part-time or flexible & on a need basis. I enjoy working with any age of children.
