About Lauren

I am a single mother of two boys, 17 and almost 19, with a degree from NYU in English Education and Communication Studies (‘92) and from UT Knoxville in Fine Art. I’ve worked in many areas of the restaurant industry, from prep work to district management and have spent the last 20 years in and out of the art world as a studio artist and gallery owner (2005-2009). During covid, when the art world shuttered up, I turned to interior house painting to support my family. Then 2 years ago when my dad was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s, I was offered the opportunity to take care of him 3 days a week and another lady, also with Alzheimer’s, 2 days a week, offering social outings, transportation to medical appointments, family support, and coordination with other care givers. I have thoroughly enjoyed this time but my dad is now moving into an Alzheimer’s care facility and I am looking for part-time work. I love working with kids, especially in creative activities. I give art lessons to 2 girls ages 9 & 10 one afternoon a week and would be very interested in expanding that opportunity. Overall I am a kind, thoughtful, creative, trustworthy person with excellent communication skills and a desire to be helpful and engaged.
